Alessandro Monsutti : ウィキペディア英語版 | Alessandro Monsutti Alessandro Monsutti is a leading Italian expert on the Hazaras, a Persian-speaking people who mainly live in central Afghanistan. He is often cited in the media for his expertise. == Background == Trained as a social anthropologist, Monsutti is an associate professor at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, where he is also research director of the Programme for the Study of Global Migration. He is also a research associate at the University of Oxford's Refugee Studies Centre. He holds a PhD from University of Neuchâtel. Monsutti has conducted multi-sited research since the mid-1990s in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran to study the modes of solidarity and cooperation mobilized in a situation of conflict and forced migration. He has subsequently broadened the geographical scope of his research to include members of the Afghan diaspora living in Western countries. Monsutti argues, in his anthropological book ''War and Migration'' that migration is the traditional way of life of the Hazara people, referring to the seasonal and historical migrations which have never ceased and do not seem to be dictated only by emergency situations such as war.
